About Alison

For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the study of the soul, consciousness and the human condition. I seek a deeper understanding of the truth about life.

I am passionate about exploring, guiding, and connecting with others about the metaphysical and spiritual aspects of our existence, and our non-dualistic nature.

It is in the presence of our true essence where the truth lies within and we find our ultimate freedom and joy.

I studied business and psychology in my undergraduate degree because I wanted to bring psychology, the study of the soul, into the business world. In the first decade of my career, I served in sales management for a Fortune 500 company and found it lacked the altruism I desired.

After beginning a family, I pivoted and went back to school to earn my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and became a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maine, USA.

Since 2006, I have had the pleasure of serving others in my private psychotherapy practice, based in Portland, Maine. During that time, I became an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, Level 3 trained, Rhythm of Regulation (polyvagal) practitioner, and Intutive Intelligence certified Trainer, Teacher and Spiritual Director.

In the fall of 2020, I followed a knowing and closed my psychotherapy practice to take a spiritual sabbatical.

Though I enjoyed my work and loved my clients, intuitively, I knew there were other things I was meant to advance beyond the scope of more traditional psychotherapy practices. This beautiful pause led me to study with the Institute for Intuitive Intelligence, based in Melbourne, Australia. I became a certified Intuitive Intelligence Trainer, Teacher, and Spiritual Director. I now enjoy offering this exceptional, science-based model of spirituality and intuition in my practice.

I am grateful and love my life.

I created a life where my work is my pleasure and what I'm passionate about studying and exploring in my own earth walk. I'm grateful to be married to my long-time husband, living on the coast of Maine with our sons and grandchildren, and enjoying the beautiful four seasons of New England, along with its lakes and mountains. I cherish spending time with my dear family and loved ones, practicing yoga, taking walks in nature, and exploring mystical sites around the world.

Education + Training

In my work with others, I integrate a variety of exceptional healing modalities I have studied over the years. I continue to grow and evolve, always bringing what I learn into my sessions. My work is my joy and grounded in spirituality, the science of intuition, neuroscience, polyvagal theory, and attachment theory.

I have been serving clients in private practice since January 2006. My professional training in Intuitive Intelligence (the science of consciousness and intuition), Internal Family Systems (IFS), the Rhythm of Regulation / polyvagal theory (neuroscience and the brain), and Spiritual Attachment Therapy form the foundation for my practice philosophy.

I serve in gratitude of the many formal and informal teachers along my path:

My parents and grandparents, Dr Reid Stevens, USM, Dr Bette Katsekas, USM, Dr Dan Brown, Dr Ron Feintech, Dr Gina Ogden, Ester Perel, Deb Dana, Dr Richard Schwartz, Rev Jacob Watson, Dr Ricci-Jane Adams, and many of the other spiritual teachings from the likes of: Adyashanti, Eckhart Tolle, Mooji, and ACIM, A Course in Miracles.

My office is located in Portland, Maine, which was settled on the traditional territory of the Wabanaki Confederacy.

I recognize and honor the Wabanaki Confederacy, the People of the First Light, the Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Maliseet, and Micmac peoples, who have stewarded this land throughout the generations. I respect their traditional values and affirm their inherent sovereignty in this territory. I support their efforts for land and water protection and restoration, and for cultural healing and recovery.

May we pause in remembrance of the lives and land taken through genocidal strategies of the colonial settlement of this land.

I pay respect to elders both past, present, and emerging, and I commit to the ongoing work of decolonization in Maine and beyond.
